Dorian, a retelling of Ragnorok

Neither the sun nor moon could be seen
through the opaque clouds that hoved near.
Like the prey of a famished wolf
they soon will disappear.

A once bright and joyous place
 was shrouded in darkness.
"Tis perhaps unlikely," I say
for I now share its likeness.

 In an instant destruction came
"Inconceivable!" I cry
And as I watch the battle of the heavens commence
 the water draws nigh.

The mighty trees were gifted wings
 and soon took flight.
With the strength of a thousand men
 they destroyed everything in sight.

 The walls trembled violently
From the force of the waves.
I wondered if they fell in,
 "Will this be my grave?"

 O how trapped I felt,
caught in the wake of a great ship
I was nothing more than a drop of water
 on Loki's battleship.

What I believed to be night came
 and the winds grew stronger.
I thought they might devour the sky
The stars, the moon, and even the archer.

I am witness to the wind's howling rampages
and the rain's valiant war cry.
As the water reaches my knees
I am entranced by the war in the sky.

 All around me destruction reigns.
Floating debris and I the same.
My house has failed to keep me safe,
 All alone, a trembling waif.

Set adrift on what remains of my home,
with only a journal to write my story in.
With no civilization to be seen, I send my goodbyes
Signed a casualty of Hurricane Dorian.
