Dormancy

One morning my heart stopped

I knocked, I waited

Silence

In AP English we studied poetry

I knocked, I waited

Silence

The next day I read The Raven

I knocked, I waited

Silence

A month later I wrote a clever couplet

I knocked, I waited

Silence

A year later I was lost

I knocked, I waited

Silence

That night I cried

I knocked, I waited

Silence

Finally I wrote

I knocked, I waited

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh
