dose of reality

the deepest pain I've ever known

is one of defeat that happened to be bittersweet

biting down on the reality that life is not what you make it

but what you can fake it

too often people live to please others

and found myself pleasing myself according to their orders

there's an order of operations once you live this adult life

Pay your bills or you're a slave to those who provide the basic necessities of life but that of course doesn't come free of charge

Excercise your freedom of speech but not too loud because then you're ungrateful for the minimum wage ever go graciously placed upon our lives

Make due with what you've got because you don't deserve the finer things in life

Don't dodge the feds because then you become this irresponsible, uncivil human being that hasn't just left being a student to being an adult

Act ever so grateful and don't demand what is not only right and fair but morally just

Succeed but just enough to make the statistics look how you want them to

I had a dream but then they woke me up

But there's no time to give up because there's a generation behind me that's looking to me and my peers to rise to the occassion

I guess it's time to set the trail blazin'
