The Double E Theory

Hope

We start out discerning who to trust

And if our infancy is unreliable

Than mistrust becomes undeniable

Will

Slightly older we begin to explore

Love too small or love to great

And we become filled with shame and hate

Purpose

“Let me do it” is uttered as school starts

Initiative or guilt is what is beckoned

Beware how much you decide to contend

Competence

A wee bit prior to puberty

Comes industry over inferiority

This is when hobbies should become immense

Otherwise self worth is not dispensed

Fidelity

As a teen our life is a crisis

We are in a state of constant discovery

Of ourselves and our identity

Love

Adulthood as young as can be

Life partners become traced

With the continuance of school this stage has become more spaced

Caring

The second crisis unfolds

That of a the mid life

Am I doing anything to help the next gen

If not then stagnation begins

Wisdom

Wine gets better with age they say

Although this is not always the case

For if their life is not fulfilled then we shall see a lack of grace

Living a full life

With love and with strife

One step closer not too far

Completion of life, and here you are
