Doubt
I remember,
The jarring words we tossed,
And the deafening silence
after the battle
I remember,
How you stared at me with those deep blue orbs, exhausted, yet full or rage
I remember,
How you threw the vase that you gave me on our first date,
And how it caused a dent in our wall, then fell shattered, like my heart, on our kitchen floor
I remember,
The tears that burst forth like water from a dam, dripping down my face as you doubt the way i feel
Nevertheless the unfinished battle,
A ceasefire is settled,
and i’ll never forget the way you looked at me after i uttered the words you’ve longed to hear
“Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.”
