Dove's Flight

A dove descends from deep in my heart, Never to see this world fall apart. Leaving me here vulnerable and weak, As I watched the blood of my scars streak. That dove was my one and only way out, And now that its gone, I live with all doubt. Of ever, ever, leaving this place. Of ever, ever, feeling safe. It soars as my demons eat me whole, Taking with it, my chance of a home. A chance to be loved, A chance to be free, A chance to escape the cruel reality. Of the less than perfect life I live, Of the less than perfect love I give. I sit here, knowing my problems won't shrink. But in the midst of it all, I cant help but think. That its true I hate that dove like no other, But I wish it wouldn't fly away any farther.
