Down Memories Lane
As I trod back down memories lane,
and turn back the pages of time.
I live those carefree days of my youth,
just like a nursery rhyme.
A barefoot girl without a care
trudging down the long shady lane
with the dust oozing out between her toes.
How I wish I were back there again.
WIth a flip of a thought
we turn a new page.
Just like magic, Lord, bless my soul
I see all my friends waiting for me,
down by the old swimming hole.
With the turn of each page,
the years roll by and a new era has begun.
Wait! Hold that page, leave it right there,
Leave it at twenty one.
Well, no one can hold that page of time,
or control the setting sun.
By the grace of God, we all go along,
on the journey of life till it's done.
Some people say, we should never look back.
Look only to the future, but heck,
if we were to go forward without looking around,
Why did the Lord put a joint in our neck?
