Downward, We Fall

Falling, spinning,

Down we descend,

Like an autumn leaf in the breeze,

Slipping, sliding,

Twirling, swirling,

We fall,

Grasping, grabbing,

Too slippery to be held,

Fall till we hit rock bottom,

Cower, hide

Don’t look us in the eyes,

We beg,

Though silently we hope,

Build up the walls,

To hide the weakness inside,

Strong as an oak,

Tall, sturdy,

Rotten on the inside,

Full of crushed hopes and dreams,

Torn up in a pile,

Littering our soul,

They float,

Reminders of what can never be,

Dreams-come-true we will never see,

Drifting by and by,

Sliding down,

Warm tears,

We cry.
