Dragonfire

Spark.

Tender hand, lifted wing.

Sweet, slow exhale.

Pearly white glittering fangs

as lips pull back from teeth.

Bright smile as he approaches.

Supple fingers--

As nimble as serpents--

Caress her face.

The first flame is in her eyes.

Cold blood. Slight simmer.

And then,

Glorious inferno.

Danger—flashing teeth,

Poisonous drops of love, falling down from teeth.

Are they unaware?

All around, crashing trees,

Fleeing creatures,

Deafening noise.

Yet two silver bodies remain—

Glittering scales, glowing skin,

Emerald eyes shining into her own.

Then suddenly,

The flame dies down.

Long breath from nervous lungs.

Smoke seeps slowly from nostrils.

Eyes remain aglow.

Gentle touch of face against face,

Embers die to cooling leaves.

And all is still.
