Drawn In

I like the soft and burden of it,

Smooth paper against my fingertips.

And the sound of turning pages,

The words,

The story unfolding;

Capturing my attention,

Sweeping me out of my world,

Ready to conquer the next adventure

And drunk on bliss,

A touch to the bound paper, the spine

Cracked as I opened it for the first time.

The persuading words on the page

Draw me in again,

Back down

Into the my escape,

My freedom and liberation

From the cruel outside world, and the heartache

The persuading words on the page bring me back

Like a guardian angel, ready to save me from myself.
