Dream Addiction

Gods, kings, and heroes

Were all woven from different materials,

But a common thread in each

Came from their ability to dream.

Anyone in the arms of Morpheus

Could dream of their future or divine messages.

Gods could dream of power, kings of riches,

And heroes could dream of glory.

Times have changed since dreams first started,

Dreams don’t come easily for those who writhe in pain.

Morpheus needs the help

That comes from morphine.

Dreams can be addicting,

So morphine is used more and more.

 Morpheus must work overtime

For these people who just can’t quit.
