Dream Come True
I dreamed
You and I
Weren't on the same side
Like I believed
I had a dream
You left me
You burned the bridge
Connecting us
And you took that cigarette
And lit us up
Turned my love
And burned it to the ground
I woke up
Crying without a sound
I cried so hard
You had never felt so close
And yet so far
Never before
Have I felt
Like you were a locked door
Always open
Always there
You turned your back on me
And now
I can't see
Through this smoke and fire
And I reach for you
I wander all night long
I look and look
And come out empty handed
Alone
Growing cold
You said
I believed it
You went
And I followed
I believed in you that much
You built me up
Built the trust
Until it felt unbreakable
You really felt
Like a dream to me
To good
To ever be true
But I believed in you
And now
As the smoke and dust clears
I know it was never as it seemed
But while it lasted
While I believed
It was the best damn nightmare
I mistakened
For a dream come true
