Dream Instead
I've been sleeping a lot I'm told.
It's dark when I sleep because it's dark in my heart.
I sleep to let my dreams unfold.
I sleep because I and life must be apart.
But my dreams are more adventerous you see.
Yet, they tell me to give life a chance,
Well, what the hell of a kind of chance did it give me?
I sleep cause I determine the circumstance.
When I'm awake, my demons can't hide.
When light comes it's bright and blinding.
I like to sleep to keep me in stride.
And the light isn't so deafening.
I sleep mostly and awake eventually,
And when I wake, I wander and ponder.
But my dreams hold more for me, substantually.
The days I hate and nights I grow fonder.
Dreams, oh dreams come quickly,
Rescue me from the true darkness out there.
Swift me away like you do so sweetly,
Take me away from myself here.
I hate the voices swarming and screaming in my head,
Take me off to dream instead.
