Dream Job

It’s been a long time coming.

Graduating college at 18, working abroad for a year, translating for two years, volunteering at every possible opportunity, and now almost three years advocating for children in a non-profit;

Studying for the LSAT everyday for months on end, only to literally break my writing hand just days before the test;

Re-taking the LSAT… three times to get it right;

Writing the personal statement – how do you put into words everything that brought you to this point, in 600 words or less?

Pouring my soul into my work, my school applications, my personal statement;

Because this is the only thing I’ve ever believed in.

Applying to schools, any school that will take me…

Wow, I’m accepted. To a good school, one of the best of the best, they say.

It’s hard to accept the fact that it’s actually happening, finally happening.

I dreamt about this for so long. And it’s finally happening.

Moving half-way across the country, away from family and friends.

All because of this one thing I believe in…

In three years time, I will graduate.

If I blink now, perhaps I’ll have already graduated, I can’t be quite sure… it’s all running together now.

I’m dreaming now. I graduated several years ago. I am a child advocacy attorney.

I help families reunite, facilitate adoptions and guardianships, assist children in finding their voice in the courtroom.

So much hard work to finally get to this point, and I’m helping, I’m finally helping others.

It’s that thing I always believed in, and now I get to help make it happen.
