A Dream Lost, Or Rejection?
United to be together is what they wanted to see
Traveling under railroads was how it had to be
From The Children's March to Boycotts, led us to be free
For he had a dream, shall live eternally
None of this is acknowledged when teen lives are ending dramatically
None of this is thought of when bullets travel
Piercing a body of the same flesh and blood
Moving the minds of people in their neighborhoods
It makes most wonder has a task been completed?
No, because African Americans are still being mistreated
From the outside looking in I have to ask, has his dream been fulfilled?
Or has a dream been lost in the cotton fields?
If Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was present in flesh today,
He would weep in pain for his beloved dream has been lost
People risked their lives for us to be free at all cost
Although we are all the same race
Not all of us share the same face
Leaving me to say that I’m the lawyer and I shall rest this case
Gaining yet another case a women has been guilty, but
All she wanted was a spot
Feet tired, work non-stop
White man took a glance
He saw opportunity to enhance
Rosa refused to take a stand
Better yet for a man
Then they asked for her hands
Handcuffs became her new band
Mugshot, fingerprints
Real life no picket fence
Once released Rosa had a goal
To get equality for every soul
Not alone, she had help
In newspaper she spelt
Boycotts busses until they’ve felt
That they have been released from the bruises of a belt
Rosa made history
To save a wretch like you and me
Dont forget she saved us a spot
Now we African Americans can reign up top
