Dream of Night

Shining stars of fire

Let down their beams like silk

It streams across the water

And glistens white as milk

The darkness holds the secrets

Of many days gone by

If you only stop to listen

You can hear them in the sky

Whispering their stories

For the ones who dare to hear

Tales of woe and tales of glory

That ignite upon my ear

They tell me dawn is coming

And it’s time to go to sleep

But nothing seems to help

Not even counting sheep

The sunlight hits my eyes

as it bathes me in its beam

I find myself in bed

It must have been a dream
