Dream Screen

In dreaming, I discovered frothing pools

Inside myself of such nostalgia, false,

For vict'ry against villains, cold and cruel.

O, I will not forget the earthen walls

That crumbled with emotion as they did

When gleaming silver soothed my sleeping soul,

For only I remember where I hid,

Where only I could fill the champion's role.

No tow'ring mountains; knight of dreamer's cave

Is all I ache to be, in stories bright

With gold intentions. But I am depraved

Outside my cavern--far too frail to fight.

Still, dreams are tales, and tales we know to be

Immortal when spun into shapes we see.
