Dreamer
When I cannot sleep,
I try to count some sheep.
but all these things running through my head,
I'd rather be thinking dreams instead.
Thinking of the wind in my hair,
Blowing away all my cares.
Breathing in that mountain air,
Open my eyes, but nothing's there.
Just the darkness of my room,
The music of the night consumes,
All my wild thoughts and dreams,
My heart is bursting at the seams!
My imagination running wild,
like back when I was a child.
Grand adventures in far away places,
sword fights, pirates, wide open spaces.
A girl and boy holding hands,
Wiggling their toes in the sand.
Or a princess trapped inside a tower,
A knight feeling brave in his final hour.
Or dreaming of snow,
on my eyelashes and nose,
and when I awake only heaven knows,
Ill think of my dreams throughout the day,
I don't really care what others might say.
Some call me ditsy, odd or misfit,
but I know all of them I could out wit.
But I don't mind,
this is my life.
So just leave me be,
and let the girl dream.
