Dreamer

Oh how sweet my dreams can be,

They that I can almost touch and feel.

These dreams, so well I can see,

I just wish that they were real!

Oh how tender are the illusions of a dreamer,

If only things were as they seem,

For if I was such a clever schemer,

I would have the greatest team.

Oh how sharp is the pain of reality

When these facts finally settle in,

For I now know that "you and I" will not be actuality

And my heart is trapped in a tiny can of tin.

Oh how I fear the end of it all,

For the dreamer's story never ends well.

Out of the tin, my heart will call

Only to come out, for it is for the axe to fell.
