The Dreamer
The dreamer closes her eyes
to see the world she wants to live.
She sees her dream inside her soul,
but cannot live out loud.
Stuck in bed it’s all she can do,
to escape the constant noise of her room.
The beeps, the buzz, the line, and the drip,
she’s sick and tired of being like this.
It’s all she’s known for over a year,
but she keeps her dream alive through the fear.
She longs to breath the fresh, salty air,
of a place she’s never seen.
She lives in slow motion.
Her friends all pass her by.
They have lives to live and things to do.
She’s all alone in a crowded room.
She remembers when she used to feel
the wind blow through her hair.
Now reaching up to touch her head,
knowing it’s no longer there.
She leans against the wall
and tries to fight the pain.
They say she doesn’t stand a chance,
but let her have her dream.
