a dreamer ignited in the city
A small town girl has a dream in her heart
and tears in her eyes
But she doesnt let a tear drop fall
as her mom and her home grow tiny in the rearview mirror
They say "don't apologize for growing up"
they whisper "stop growing up"
She says she's moving to the city
the looks on their faces says they think it will break her
She now lives on the 8th floor- high in the sky
she's ready to take off but realizes she doesn't know how to fly
She spins and runs and leaps
trying to keep up with the city that never sleeps
Working in the day and partying into the night
the city is full of exotic people and colorful lights
She loves and she cries
she feels like she's never enough yet she tries
She gives everthing she has to give
the city still eats her alive
She doesn't
give up
She slowly misses home less
and loves the city more
She starts to succeed frequently
and becomes foreign to failure
She creates the life
she could only ever dream of before
The city ignites a girl who was a spark her whole life
but was always meant to be a flame
