Dreaming about Reality

How do we carve a path of our own?

It starts in sand, history has shown

that some wash away, others stand firm

the path I chose is simply to learn.

The only thing I know for sure,

is that I know nothing, and I can procure

the evidence in that I am still breathing

I'll only know it all when I cease to be living.

So I choose to admit, I try to be humble,

I reach for the hand offered whenever I stumble.

Don't give me pity, just give me a chance.

And when I get there, I'll ask you to dance,

for hardship and trial only strengthens my goal

to live a live sharing everything that I know.

The job, a career? No, life disagrees.

I will live on what I love, what I love is trees

as I climb through the branches, sketchpad in hand,

and capture the light and dark in the land.

I dream of the beauty held in the dirt,

I dream of the truth spread through the earth

I dream of my art and writing and song

to mean something more, to come, and belong.

I dream of nothing more than I need,

I dream of learning through what I read

But when I grow old, I wish to see

that my dreams were the Dreams of Reality.
