Dreaming of Adventure

Dear Hiring Manager,

Most jobs these days don’t sound too appealing

I don’t want anything mundane or small

I want to come home with the good feeling

That I’m making a difference in the long haul

To punch the clock day in and day out

Is not what life should be about

Is it too much to ask for adventure?

Is all we get reluctant indenture?

I want to cross swords with burly pirates

And loop stunt planes with nervy pilots

I want to battle evil clowns

And disarm bombs and save some towns

I want to operate on human brains

Invent a cleaner that destroys all stains

I want to rush to battlefields to suture wounds

And trek the deserts and climb the dunes

I want to bust some teeth and become a fighter

And wake up tomorrow to something brighter

Yours daydreaming of what could be,

Rob H
