Dreaming of Dreams
This past year to date has given me the greatest burdens I have yet to possess. Yet this time around, I decided to bury those burdens–then I began to nurture those seeds.
They’ve grown rampant from an incipient idea to a relentless desire–an insatiable thirst–to enact a change so clear, but to the point of people looking through it… and letting it slump idly in our peripherals.
We all inhabit a single planet. A planet we abuse, torture, and sometimes step back to finally appreciate. We do not see a we however. Pigmentation and location dictates us to conceive false beliefs upon each other. People wish to stand apart from a group by having their own unique clothing, but we don’t appreciate the different clothes we may never exchange–our skin.
We all need help. There is no difference in where you sleep–you only ended up there from either being helped or not provided the help you need. The rich neglect the fact that the wealth they possess at some point came from people banding together to aid someone in building their dream–but then not equally sharing the rewards.
The subtle difference between us is some enable their humanistic gift of reasoning. Only a select fewer pair this with a determination to chase what their mind can see–an image they want their eyes to view as well; a dream.
Our reasoning allows us to give birth to dreams–but not all of us get this opportunity. We are all created equal, so why must we all be punished differently? Many face timeouts when growing up–too many face surviving each day. Some do strive to erase this disgusting fact, but when do they stop? How many struggling is too many? One.
Success. Achievement. Fame. To what higher level is one who is recognized by society? We are a society in fact. We attempt to polish ourselves into a medallion, and for what end goal? To lie upon a mantle–society–of dirt, a mantle so distinctly different from ourselves by terms of monetary value. Why don’t we chase to recognize the problems in society. Instead we chase this placement on top of this mantle, we’re striving to be different–but we neglect to make a difference.
This needs to change. It will change. It’s not about you, me, or them–we are all here together. We’ve all been granted reasoning, and with that we live for a single reason–to dream. Dreams are the only thing that allows us as a species to grow, to innovate… to survive. Yes, all are created equal, so lets not let creation be the starting point and finish for equality. Let us allow others to toss aside their stress–their focuses, their burdens of trying to just survive–so they too can be enabled to dream.
We’ve all looked at a particular person we know and thought they have enormous potential. Let us change our focus onto a bigger spectrum–let us see the potential the entire world can be capable of.
Let us dream.
