Dreaming of Scaling Teeth
"Mr. John Doe, how are you today?/What changes are there in your health histor-ay?/ Please sit down in your chair as I scrub my hands clean/ and we can go over your dental hygiene./ Do you floss once? Do you brush twice? Do you use mouth wash everyday?/ Shaking your head means you might have tooth decay! Let's take a look- oh, why do you fret?/ I won't slaughter you with this Gracie curette!/ This instrument's to remove calculus/-in subgingival pockets with easy access./ God forbid tartar to linger under those gums,/ periodontal disease is a nasty problem. /Same goes for tooth decay,/ and same goes for bad breathe, I would say./ Now with that over, let's polish teeth clean/ coronal polishing to give 'em a sheen! A gritty paste in a rubber cup/, powered by a motorized handpiece- yeah, that's what's up./ Am I done anytime now, you ask? Flossing your teeth is my last task./ Two fifths of teeth surface is cleaned this way,/ and that's why you ought to floss dail-ay./ Mr. John Doe, feelin' spark-l-y clean?/ I'll see you next year on September fifteenth!"/ The boss snaps a finger in front of my face/, "Quit dicking around in your head and hasten your pace!"/ I snapped out of my fantasy,/ and notice a patient is waiting for me/- Why, it's none other than Mr. John Doe./ I hand him his order, a big cup of joe./ I robotically hand my boss his tool,/ then sit there idly on my stool./ Seeing that my job seemed simple/, my patient saw me as one to belittle./ "My daughter is about your age./ Why did you settle for near mimimum wage?"/ I tell him to wait a minute,/ as I grabbed a letter from the cabinet./ "This is a letter of recommendation/. Assisting's a useful profession/. What knowledge I've gained here only confirms/ that I've got what it takes to meet the terms./ The terms to be what I want to be-/ I can be a hygienist one day- you'll see./ With more college courses to complete,/ to enter a competitive program to beat./ I'm doing all I can to make the shot/, a shot for a better life than what I've got."" mme I'llIit iGi fgfba
