Dreams
I have a dream; and that dream is to one day open my own bakery. I would love for my bakery to be a community outreach, a gathering place, a comfort zone, a place where stress from a chaotic day melts away with a delicious pastry and a soothing cup of coffee.
Ever since I can remember, I have always loved the art form of cooking and especially baking. Gazing at a beautiful dessert you have just created for a loved one, and knowing that they will thoroughly enjoy it gives me such delight! When an opportunity arose to take a cake decorating class, I thought, “Hey, this will be fun!” Sure enough, I fell in love! I knew this was what I was supposed to do.
As I began to pursue an interest in this field, I wanted to actually get out and work in the baking business. However, much to my dismay, no one would hire a young teenager to work in their bakery, even as an intern. Because of my own experience, I know that when I have my own bakery, I will do things a little differently. I want to start up a program that encourages our young leaders of the world to pursue their dreams in the baking and business fields. I want to teach them the skills they will need to be successful, and gain experience. I believe if we do not guide the next generation and provide opportunities for them, how are they supposed to learn?
I know that it will take hard work, long hours, and many classes. But I am willing and able. I am ready to go and not just dream my dreams, but to live them!
