DREAMS
I’ve noticed this strange thing.
Although I’m not sure if it’s strange.
Maybe I’m the strange one
For thinking that way.
When my peers are asked about their future, their careers,
They often say,
“Lawyer,
Doctor,
Nurse,
Scientist,
Teacher,”
And more.
These jobs seem like something they genuinely want to do.
And that’s good.
I’m happy for them. They know what they want to do.
But I feel like I’m different.
I feel like I’m being more absurd.
All of those careers give me money.
All of those careers are attainable.
They’re… logical. Realistic.
Not… outlandish.
But my dream career, you say?
It’ll likely remain a dream,
But somehow?
There's something in me that wants to try.
I’ve never told anyone,
But I want to be a pop star.
Yes, you heard that right.
A pop-star. As in Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Ariana Grande.
Ridiculous, right?
Well… I still want to try.
I’ve always loved the music, the arts.
Music fills me up, top to bottom.
I like pop and dance, the uplifters, the upbeat, the partiers.
From Tate McRae to Rhea Raj, they’re all vibes.
I like writing songs.
I like dreaming about it.
My stage name.
The songs I’ll produce.
I’ll sing.
The albums and extended plays I’ll have.
The concerts, fame, and popularity.
The opinions.
The controversies, the fans, the haters, the critics,
The drama.
The screaming crowds, the lights, the microphones.
But then I come back to the real world, and
I realize it's almost impossible.
That puts me down. I want to stop dreaming.
But something in me wants to try.
It really does.
But… I don’t think my parents will accept.
Well, maybe they will… but they’ll think I’m being crazy.
Maybe I am.
I’ve wanted to do something related to music.
But then…
“How will you get a money from it? You need to make a stable living from a career.”
Sigh. Maybe I should stick to engineering.
Logically, that would be a better choice. It would make sense.
But it’s not what I want to do.
I think I’m weird and selfish.
I want to have the popularity and fame from being a musician.
But why can’t I just have simple aspirations like my classmates?
Why can’t I just be comfortable with a possible, logical career?
I should just forget the possibility.
I wouldn’t even know where to start as an artist.
I’ll probably go nowhere anyway. What’s the point?
I should probably forget about it.
But that’s the thing about DREAMS, right?
Sometimes, they never let you go.
Sometimes, they make you want to keep going.
Keep on trying.
DREAMS are really something.

Deeply personal career anxiety and identity crisis, autobiographical throughout.
Multiple overlapping ideas per section: dreams vs. reality, parental pressure, self-doubt.
Conflicted and melancholic; aspiration undercut by doubt, self-criticism, resignation.
Moderate intensity; passionate about music but overwhelmed by anxiety and hesitation.
Approximately 70+ lines; substantial, extended meditation on single theme.
Minimal metaphor or ornament; mostly declarative, conversational, introspective prose-poetry.
Pure lyric internal monologue; direct first-person confession without narrative or dramatic distance.
