Dreams of Tomorrow
Awaken,
Like yesterday,
And the days before that,
And the days before that.
Awaken,
Dim skies and cold drops
Leave me drowsy,
But I must
Awaken.
Pull my body
By my arms,
And drag and drag.
Awaken,
To cool metal
Under my hand
And push and push.
Then sleep,
Days run quickly,
Faster than me, even
I can’t keep up.
Then sleep,
Like yesterday,
And the days before that,
And the days before that.
Dreaming of
A time when
My world is free
Of dim skies.
Dreaming of
A day when
I can finally run
Free.
Should I
Run from all
I know and
All my pain?
Should I
Stay and push
And learn
To sit straight?
My wheels were
My trauma,
My youth,
My undoing.
My wheels are
My strength,
My asset.
They are Me. So,
Awaken,
Like yesterday,
And the days before that,
And the days before that.
Awaken,
Dim skies and cold drops
Leave me drowsy,
But I must
Awaken.
I shouldn’t miss
The chance to rise again
And push and push.
Awaken,
To cool metal
Under my hands and
Dreams of tomorrow in my head.
