Dried Up Tears

I look out to the world from my sheltered place
And see a dirt stained face.
A mother elephant gets shot to the ground,
Her ripped out tusks are never to be found.
And as she lays there and dies,
Her helpless baby does nothing, but cries.
And a tear falls from my eyes.

The fat man gorges on what food is near
And never once thinks to lend an ear
To hear the stories of so many who die of starvation
Does he care that he can be their salvation?
He eats, and eats, and eats
The treats and tons of red meats.
And a starving child dies.
And a mournful mother cries.
And a tear fall from my eyes.

The selfish rich man wants more money
So they cut down many trees. They think its funny
As the blue jay who once lived in one of those trees, flees
Along with his woodland neighbors and sees,
The trees, no more.
And what they build at the core
Of all those trees that are no more
Is a grand mall that doesn't save the ecosystem
And leads the creatures to their fall.
The creatures die.
Their loved ones cry.
And a tear falls from my eyes.

I've had enough
Of this stupid stuff
And I put my hand down to the ground
And hear the dreadful sound
Of Mother Nature crying out in pain
As her brethren are all slain.
And the rain, are her tears
But still, no one hears.
And as her brethren die
Mother Nature cries
And a tear fall from my eyes.

Those who love will help us save
Those tortured creatures from a grave.
And this never ending ocean of tears that we have cried
Will have gone and dried.
For the efforts of those who have tried will not go unrewarded
And we will shed no more tears.

For this poem I really took my inspiration from a lot of world issues like starvation and poaching. It pains me to see or hear of such actions and I'd like to hold out and think that a difference will be made.
