Drift Away

Sweat dream Don’t go away For each night I’ll try to bring you back Filled with hope and joy Who would want to leave? You were paradise A break from this world A place where I could be myself Spread wings and Fly away to the moon if I wanted to Or grow gills and a tail And swim under sea American Dream Who needs it? I’ll create my own life Built on my fantasies After all isn’t that the American Dream To be me To be happy Take my poem to heart Forget what people say Life’s about risk It’s all a gamble, a game we all get to play A Marry Jane addiction For all those crack heads Who pop them mollies to escape Society’s cruel comments You won’t find your hopes in any place Nothing will be good enough Sleep away To the place where dreams are reality Go to a place Where you are no longer a number Or percentage Where heart breaks don’t exist And the lamb and lion get along Where my mind and heart are equilibrium And peace if finally mine
