Drink

Poets sing, and feel, and rhyme, and think their lives away.

Politicians sit in pinstripe suits to impress us for a day.

Teachers survey the room of faces, going for the kill.

Drunkards buy just one more drink, so they can drink their fill.

Lovers dream about their crush, hoping to propose,

Little kids with iPhones go 'round screaming 'what are those'.

Addicts smoke just one more plant, so soon they feel quite ill,

Drunkards buy just one more drink, so they can drink their fill.

Protests rally in the streets, wanting things for free,

the blind men page through bumpy books; wishing they could see.

Somewhere someone's dying, while another breaks their will,

Drunkards buy just one more drink, so they can drink their fill.

Kids buy Menthols, gum and candy, shunning other groups,

Sergeants yell at skinny soldiers, rallying their troupes.

Somewhere someone's going to die, while trying for a thrill,

Drunkards buy just one more drink, so they can drink their fill.

Actors put on one more face, and try to keep from crying,

All men die and turn to dust, yet still they keep on trying.

The whole world ends, the sun collapses, time just stands still

But drunkards buy just one more drink, so they can drink their fill.
