A Drink that Hurts
It starts with a beer which goes down fine
4 to 6 beers later, things start to unwind.
It takes its time and slowly turns my father into a slim
I hear him yelling at my mother and I run and hide
I know he’s in a different place, cause his brain is fried.
I wish I could do something but my hands are tied
I lay under the bed wishing I had tried.
I wished to GOD that on days like that he would die
But I know now that it’s the drink that is the lie.
