Drink of Love

You hurt me

Not physically, but emotionally

I saw you

But you looked straight through me

I prayed

For days on end that your eyes

Would open

That you would see the truth

Beneath

Your slippery lies

Beneath

That “I’m fine” disguise

It hurt

To know that you can’t pick

Me

Over one more drink

I

Cried tears so you would stop

You ended

Up in the hospital

You ended

Up with a court order

And you

You’re sick

And I

Love you so much

That I

Refuse to be okay

With it

I will not enable you

With my love

I will not justify your actions

With my love

So please work on yourself

So that

You can choose me

Over that drink

Choose me, please

You have

Been drinking your love

Ignoring me

And your illness will win

Unless you

Start changing

That drink of love

Will be your end

I will suffer

So please

Get better

I only want the best
