The Drive
The 500 mile drive we took
For you, for one last look
Even with all the prayers, we knew
It was the time for you
Through the pain and suffering you fought
As we reminisced on the lessons you tought
We prayed for you to get stronger
Because we were selfish, and wanted you a little bit longer
Everyone had said their goodbyes,
and tried unsuccessfully not to cry
It was time for you to answer the call
and gracefully you would fall
It was the thought we couldn't bare
Because to us it wasnt' fair
Of course we all wanted you to stay
But even still you passed away
Smiling until your last breath
It stayed while you were put to rest
In loving memory of the one and only I've met
To our dear, sweet mother Violet
