Drivers Seat

Here I was behind the wheel still wondering if this was legal

I adjusted my seat, nice and high, and I felt very regal

I reminded myself that this was like every time before

But something didn’t feel right when no one opened the passenger door

As I sat alone and hit the gas I still didn’t know how to feel

It’s true what they and everyone told me, things just got real

This is a time of life people tell you you’ll never forget

The time where you go out and make memories you won't regret

Your first car, your license, and a taste of freedom

Before reality strikes and hits your kingdom

There will be bumps in the road before your journey is done

And I myself have experienced not just one

Lost friendships, regrets, and accidents too

Those are times that you wish you were two

Growing up isn’t easy and no one said it would be

But here’s one thing that is always important to me

The outside of you will go through some changes

That's the part of life that is inevitable

But the one thing you must maintain is

The beauty that comes from within will always be the most memorable
