Drowning

You were everything. I pushed with a little aching heart, You shoved back with all you had. I loved you. I still do. I can’t do this. I don’t know how. I need you, and I want you, and I miss you, and I love you, and I can’t breathe. Please. How could you? How could I? I dropped the match onto the bridge. You held the fire hose, and you let it burn. How dare you ? I tried. Truly. Now I can’t breathe. I gave you everything I had. You still have my heart, but you broke it. You cracked it in half, and stepped on the pieces. You stole my lungs, my breath. You stole my mind, and I’m going crazy. I’m so weak, and it’s your fault. How could you? How could I? I dropped the match onto the bridge. You held the fire hose, and you let it burn. How dare you? I tried. Oh, darling. I tried. Still I cannot breathe. And I’m so cold, and it’s dark, and I’m lost. And I’m hopeless, and afraid, til I’m gone Please save me, save me, save me. Please take me, take me, take me away now. And I’ll be. I’ll be okay. No. no. I can’t breathe. I’m drowning. Drowning.
