Drowning

She ballets around

her daddy, laughter

filling the sweetness

of their lives to come,

submerged in

blissful memories.

They twirl and caper,

Oh, the thrill!

But now,

the music ceases,

iron bars replace

the dances

and the joy

as she tumbles without arms

to catch her.

And end to laughter

and sweetness, drowning

in the repetition,

Oh, the tears!

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.
