Drowning

I am the ocean. So deep. You couldn’t possibly see everything inside of me. And why would you want to? It’s dangerous. It’s dark. You can’t breathe. I try to pull you inside because I want to feel closer to you. I want to show you all there is to me but you fight your way back to my shallowest parts. You cry and you scream and I frighten you. I try again because I feel you beginning to trust me. I let you move at your own pace and then I quickly try to pull you down into me so you’re forced to acknowledge my depth. But it kills you. I crush you with my weight and the force. I brought you too far in and now it’s too late, you’re gone. Dead. A ghost of who you were because I was too much for you.
