Drowning

the water

catches my body

and pulls it tight,

making it taut and limp.

my fingers

claw through the waves

my lungs fight for air,

begging to be filled

with anything

but water.

darkness wraps around

my mind

nothing appears before my eyes.

i am being pulled

under,

deeper.

i am

sinking,

drowning.

I like how smoothly and seamlessly the poem flows. I also like how the speaker is calming and placid, which contrasts a very serious situation of drowning. She speaks in defeat, giving in to nature. However, this is all for poem's and mind's sake!
