Drowning

I’m surrounded by water and darkness on all sides,

I can feel and see nothing and believe I’m going blind,

It’s cold and there is a harsh stream flowing against me,

I feel confined to an unescapable cage where I will never be free,

I thrash around with no progress making the pain I feel unbearable,

But I wouldn’t know how or what to do to escape even if I were able,

The water is getting colder and I am getting weaker,

It seems as if death wants me and he is eager,

My mind goes off into a dark and eternal sleep,

The water takes my body as a prize to keep.
