Drowning

Every time I seem to catch my breath I’m pulled right back under by another wave. Thrashing around and struggling to stay afloat, I think that’s more of a joke. I can’t breath, my lungs are constrained by the pressure. I see the light at the end of the storm but this wickedness is more than over. Try as I might I can’t fight the current, but I gotta try. Holding my breath longer as I’m held under these fortifying riptides. I gotta keep pushing on. Body weak, aching, longing for a break. Soon the wait will be over but for now I still gotta catch my breath.
