Drowning

You can see the surface,

Arms and legs flailing around,

Fighting to reach it

For a breath, a much needed breath,

Your lungs are screaming.

Above the surface you gasp for air,

Only for a minute...

Under the surface you go again.

It is not your choice,

That the wind and waves overpower you.

You keep on fighting

To reach the surface once more,

To breathe, to live,

The energy in you goes,

 The surface is further away,

With screaming lungs,

You stop putting up a fight and

you let yourself drown.

Yet again.
