Drowning on Air

Clench

Unclench

Clench

Unclench

And the piano pounds on and on in my head

Oh ouais

Je m’amuse

How can I not be?

Your French sounds like a foreign language

Have to concentrate

So much

It’s so much

I’m spinning

And swimming

And spinning in this whirl pool

The piano pounding the sounds of my fear

It pounds on and on

And as I come closer to the center of the pool

I can no longer breathe

Clench

Unclench

I’m drowning

It’s too much

I can’t control the flow

The flow controls me

I’m suffocating

Despite the fact that there’s oxygen

Despite the fact that I have my space

Despite the fact that everything I have is what I have made

It’s suffocating me

It’s pulling me in

Clench

Unclench

Clench

Unclench
