Drunk
Because I love you
I’ll admit my mind has gone askew
For in all your intoxication I will bask
However, silently sipping from a flask
You’re polished and refined, oh sure
Bubbly, tasteful, mellow, and pure
But in your batch of black love potions
You’ve masked your wicked set of emotions
To which I pour ourselves a glass of white
As we continue to shamelessly bicker and fight
My stature wobbles as my vision blurs
And my mouth speaks drunken language in slurs
I can taste your tenons on my tongue
Your flavors swirl and to my heart, they’ve clung
Yet still, I feel as though I’ve got to ask
Do you recognize you’re being an ass?
I’ve exchanged so-called love for sloppy kisses
Been drank and returned, always dismissive
You’ve shown me selfish gluttony in all its glory
To you, I looked up, but now I remain accusatory
I crave you still and thus I take a heaping swig
I piece myself together, pretty like a sprig
You’ve run me dry of all my brandished liquor
And from my eyes, I pray you see the fire flicker
Because I am not your source of endless time
Your list and menu to wine and dine
I am drunk on you, but you appear sober
So is it time we call this over?
And in hindsight, I should have seen this through
Because nothing compares to the thirst of losing you
