Duties

Duties…
We all have them.
We come into this world with them.
From the minute we take our first breath
To the moment our hearts stop beating,
We are gaining and fulfilling these accursed things.

Every man,
Every woman,
Every child,
Every elder
Has duties.
You cannot escape them.
To escape them is to escape life itself.

Every human has duties to
Philosophy,
Humanity,
Themselves,
Family,
Loved ones,
Friends….
The list is endless..
Unlike our lives.

Individually, each task would be easy.
However, life rarely gives us one task at a time.
Instead, it would prefer to drown us
Like rats in the ocean,
Burying us in duties to all categories.
There is no escape except Death
Who grants but a small release.

We struggle to remain afloat,

a task we find to be impossible.

And so we drown  in our duties

but it is always with a smile.
