Dying Love
She sat on the large stool stationary in front of the living room window and stared out at the slowly falling rain. The dark ominous clouds interfered with the sky just as thousands of clouded memories intruded her mind; memories of her and her secret love dancing down the small hills in front of her house in the pouring rain. She tried to shake the visions out her head, but they did not seem to want to go away. They were tugging at the sadness inside her heart; yanking on each heartstring violently, flowing through her veins, making her shiver. Odd- it was not the least bit cold in the room. She placed one of her shaking hands over her eyes; like as to somehow, when she took her hand off her eyes, hope the rain would just disappear along with those pulsing memories. She took a deep breath and slowly let her hand fall back down onto her lap. A feeling of complete loneliness swept through her entire body, encasing her in the strongest feeling she had ever experienced.
Her saddened blue eyes swelled with warm water and a single tear trickled down her pale cheek. Why did she miss him so much? Why did she let her feelings for him grow so strong? She did not intend to fall this in love with him; he was her best friend- her only friend. Another deep breath threatened more tears to swell in her eyes. She tried to push them back, but another tear rolled down her cheek. A couple of months ago she would have never thought of him as a lover. But something changed; their feelings about each other grew stronger and so did their bond of friendship. He felt she was the one. She felt he was the one. Did their hearts deceive them after all? If it was not meant to be, would she be in so much pain?
She still sat in the window watching the rain. Her heart felt weak, as if it would soon fail. Could someone die from losing the will to live? She sat and pondered about fifteen different subjects all at once until the subject of never being able to see her love again struck her pulsating brain. He had overdosed on pills after his last girlfriend ended their relationship. He was now with God; the one whom he never believed to be real after the sudden and unexpected passing of his grandmother, who was his only form of family.
Her hands were shaking, along with her heart. Her vision went in and out. Cold chills began running throughout her body at a rate even she could not explain. Her breath was running short; she tried to take a deep breath, but her body would not allow it. She could not live without him. She would not live without him. The past week since his death she had been losing energy rapidly and not eating. Her mother grew worried that there was something wrong with her young sixteen year old daughter.
She slowly got up from the stool by the window and walked not more than two feet to the couch. As she laid down her head and took a deep breath, she felt the pain leaving her heart; slowly but surely. The rain still slowly fell outside. She took one last glance out the window. She looked out the window and up towards the sky. A sigh rolled off her tongue and onto her lips as she took her last breath to say, "I'm coming, my love."
