Dysphoria
Be grateful- I'm reminded of this every day or every time I meet the male gaze,
every time I see my hips, my curves, or my girlish figure, I was blessed with at birth.
Be grateful- you're a chameleon you blend in
nevermind that you don't feel comfortable in your own skin.
And that if you could be anything for a day,
it would be tucked away from all eyes and safe.
I wish I looked like you- I know I can't hide my feelings as my gender envy grows
to be perceived as a beauty but not because I'm expected to be
but because it's an unexpected recapturing of my feminity.
And to all these reminders that leave your lips confirm that I want to be free from this-
body.
