E M O T I O N S

Shall I compare my mind to a winter storm?

Or shall I compare it to an earthquake?

Sometimes my mind takes form,

Whether it’s a fire-breathing dragon or a deceiving snake.

Sometimes my mind is like a flower popping from the ground after it rains,

What shall I do when the happy times run out?

When my mind has me in chains?

I’ll try harder not to succumb to the darkness, have no doubt.

She smiles, he smiles, you smile,

Then, it all comes crashing down,

The smiles turn dark and vile,

The words build up until you drown.

Suddenly, I remember that I’m strong and not weak,

I am like every other person in this world: unique.
