For Each Other

I lay on the ground and cuddle with the cold earth. I see two tall weeds of the same stem by a light pole. Strokes of leaves stem from the stems, and, from a distance, resemble intertwined arms of dancing lovers. Their figures trade features of femininity and masculinity though they are but simple plants. She spins, he dips, they switch; She bows, he twirls, they switch. The light pole is the only member of their audience -besides me- but they dance only for each other. October 17, 2017 KJ Hall
