The earth
“She’s made of fire.
And he’s her hurricane.
In their wake,
She leaves volcanic ash.
She can’t calm the storm.
He can’t kill the flames.
But when the skies turn black,
And the earth starts to rumble,
She falls through the cracks.
As she falls, he takes hold of her hand.
He pulls her back. He saved her from the waters.
And he starts to drown, freezing and trembling.
She warms the waters; finally, he freed himself.
They pretend for awhile.
That they’re not made
For destruction,
Whispering, ‘I love you’s.'
In between silent sighs,
The earth was calm now.
Her fire is sunshine.
And his storm is summer rain.
If you looked up at the sky
in that very moment,
You’d see a brilliant glow–
A radiant rainbow.”
